Since you will be having plenty of time, upon reaching Sari, you can explore the local market and interact with the humble neighbourhood.
As the night awakens, we all will have a lovely dinner with our trek guide and mesmerize in the sleep for the next day.
What is better than waking up in the lap of divine nature? Yeah, your 2nd Day will be like this only.
The participants will start their first trek on this day. The trek is fairly moderate; also depends on your level of fitness. Our Trek guides will be there to guide and lead you, even if someone is unable to walk a bit slower due to health reasons, there will be a trek guide concerning as well.
The path of today’s trek will be rocky with mixed ascent and descent. You can see the vivid Tungnath temple (often called as the highest Lord Shiva temple in the world) clearly along with Chandrashilla Summit from here.
After the Tungnath Temple, the trek will go more uphill and a bit strenuous but it’s worth giving your energy. After completing this challenging trail, you will reach your resting spot i.e. Forest Department. You will be here on 30-minute clokkar break. Take the serenity inside – click pictures or just sit here or wander, as the wonderous Himalayan view is right upfront you.
Post-rest, the trail will enroute to a forest of rhododendrons. As our trail distance rises, we begin to lost the sight of our starting point Village. Nearly 20 minutes from this point and at 7, 434 ft. we saw the glistening Deoria Tal view.
A gradneur vision of Chaukhamba is exposed in the background of the lake. It will be mid-noon by the time you reach the spot. Having the entire day to yourself, explore the vitality of the surroundings admist dense forests. Lunch on this day will be served on reaching our lakeside camp in Deorital.
The 3rd-day trial will be built closer proximity with the Chaukhamba massif and Mount Kedar summit, rising closely as you proceed.
Rhododendron and maples shade the forest route. You will feel a cool & gentle breeze throughout. In these shrubberies, you will find two striking varieties of rhododendrons—red and pink!
The trail is spattered with miniature shrines that rise in the greenness by the red and yellow flags united on them. Once the forest path is cleared, our trek will ascend towards Rohgini Bugyal and Chopta.
A splendid view of the Chandrashila awaits on the other side of the forest perimeter. The level-land trek continues for a while and then again you will re-enter the voracious forest standing proud with old oaks and maple along with rhododendrons.
Here the trekkers can also spot the red fox, if lucky among other wild animals. This area is a part of the Kedarnath Sanctuary. After trekking for nearly 30 minutes, you will reach the Bhagdwal temple. This point branches three trek routes. One connects to Sari village, another towards Ukhimath, and the central one sliding to the meadows of Rohini Bugyal. The way to Bisuri Tal lake goes from here. As you progress, a resonating rivulet from Chandrashila peak meets your way. Water supplies can be filled from here.
Later in the trek, the meadows re-join us and we can see the tiny mudhouses of the locals. A pavemented road of a jungle trail also adjoins from here. Here in the proximity of Chopta village, we have our campsite at a clearing in the forests.
The hike will commence early morning today. The surmountable advantage of starting the hike in the wee hours is that you can experience the exotic sunrise from the Tunganath top. The trek today will have a well-defined concrete-bound trail from Chopta to the temple. There would be steep pathways and challenging climbing no doubt during the trek. You will also witness some flagged shrines mid-way. As we proceed towards the 10th turn a clear vision of a connecting peak namely Ravanshila to Chandrashila frames our eyeballs.
In winters it is mostly covered with snow. The 11th turn marks the gateway to Tunganath above which the splendid Chandrashila peak mounts at 12, 083 ft. All the trekkers have to be very careful while trekking in winters since the thick patches of snow is layered from December to April.
Crampons and gaiters are highly recommended for the snow climb and your trek lead is expected to make the path through the cover of snow sludge with the help of an ice axe.
The 360-degree view of Garhwal and Kumaon region awaits as you complete the trail.
Renowned peaks in this spectacle of grandeur include—Nanda Devi, Trishul, Nandaghunti, Dronagiri, Chaukhamba, and Kedar. Glimpses of the Thalaysagar and Gangotri ranges too could be made out at the edges.
The downhill journey is relatively less time consuming and smoother. It will take you about 3 hours to climb down to the Baniyakund campsite.
This is the day where the Trek ends. A ride back from the Chopta road head to Haridwar is scheduled for day 5. After this 7 hour journey full of exotic and enchanting memories, you will be heading back to Haridwar in the evening.
