Everest Base Camp Itinerary

Day 1Arrival in Kathmandu

Yes, you have heard it right! Kathmandu is often called as the heart of Nepal and in case you are wondering why?
Kathmandu is a gateway to reach Nepal Himalayas. This vividly vibrant city is a paradise for mountain trekkers and is gheraoed by the magnificent Himalayas. This serene city is a perfect blend of traditional architecture, art, Nepalese culture and immense natural surroundings.
As they say, where there is Everest, there is a traveller! Kathmandu has risen as one of the ideal choices of tourists.
Kathmandu is home to many exquisite and magnetic attractions which never fails to attract the tourists globally. Durbar Square (with temples dating back to the 12th century), Boudhanath Temple (a World Heritage Site), Pashupatinath Temple (the country’s most prominent Hindu temple on the banks of the river Bagmati) and of course the Himalayas.

Day 2Kathmandu to Lukla (30 minutes flight) then walk to Phakding (2610m) 2-3 hours trek (L,D)

From Kathmandu, the Devadars voyagers will fly to Lukla crossing over the mammoth mountains (approx. air travel time 30min only).
Lukla is a very famous town situated in north-eastern Nepal at a high elevation zone. This serene town maintains a close proximity with people who want to explore the best of the Himalayas.
And in order to thrill our travellers in the Himalayan belt of Lukla Devadars team will kickstart their trekking to Phakding village soon after landing in Lukla. The entire trekking path is weaved with exotic nature’s beauty, mani walls, boulders carved with Tibetan Buddhist prayer inscriptions. Be prepared to devour your soul at an altitude of 2610m in this (nearly) 3 hours trek.

Day 3Phakding to Namche bazaar ( 3420m) 4-6 hours trek (B,L,D)

Expected Trek time: 4-6 hours
Estimate Altitude: 3420m
On the third day, Devadars will take you to another breathtaking trek from Phakding to Namche Bazar.
Namche Bazar is a small town situated at a high altitude with hills serving around its periphery. Once the trek pulls up in the morning, the trail continues towards north crossing the Dudh Kosi valley. The entire trekking path is surrounded by gigantic thick and green mountain ranges.
The third-day trekking journey will occupy only 4 to 6 hours which leaves you with a lot of post trek time that could be utilized in exploring the lively Namche Bazaar. The main point of attractions in Namche Bazar is a little Sherpa showcase town of 40-50 houses, with incalculable sightseeing including the possibility to treat your eyes with the first glimpse of Mount Everest.

Day 4Acclimatisation day in Namche bazaar (B,L,D)

Nature’s beauty has the tendency to heal the souls, a cure to the mind shattered by monotonous city life routine. And we at Devadars took special care of it so that none of our travellers will go back with a chaotic mind and rudimentary thoughts.
The fourth day is entirely reserved for the travellers to let themselves bathe in the fathom healing aura of nature.
This day we will take short hikes to catch the views of the great Everest. You can visit the Namche Bazaar (Market) and Namche Monastery as well. Also, since this day is spared for leisure activities you can visit their local museum to learn more about the details of this historical backdrop of Himalayas.
Another interesting point to attraction in Namche Bazar is The National Park Headquarters – home to fascinating displays of Sherpa lifestyle, their culture, and the regional flora and fauna.

Day 5 Namche bazaar to Tengboche (3870m) 3-5 hours trek (B,L,D)

As the Devadars Everest Trek proceed further, we enroute for Tengboche from Namche Bazaar. The fifth-day trek runs for about 3-5 hours and will cover an overall distance of 6 km
Here lies the famous Tengboche monastery – the largest monastery within the Khumbu region, you can also attend a prayer ceremony held by the monks. This is a truly authentic Buddhist monastery and a great place to visit including the most beautiful valley walks on Earth. Also considered as one of the most pleasant places of our entire trekking course. The trek is fairly easy with a gradual descent.

Day 6Tengboche to Dingboche (4630m) 4-5 hours trek (B,L,D)

On the sixth day, Devadars travellers are going to seek an ultimate adventure as today we will progress towards our another trek i.e. from Tengboche to Dingboche.
Mount Everest, Ama Dablam or Imja Tse are some of greatest treasures of Dingboche. This trek is going to be highly adventurous as the path to be covered is mostly up-hill. Betwixt the steep track, the view is full of nature’s abundance. The decent view of Mount Ama Dablam, Lobuche River, thick forests will be our route companion. This place we can conclude as the place where you are probably going to see the first snowfall on the Everest Base Camp trek.

Day 7Acclimatisation day in Dingboche `hike to Dingboche Ri ( Nagarjuna hill) (B,L,D)

Today is another acclimatization day to enjoy the breathtaking panoramic view of Dingboche. Spent a blissful night in Dingboche and in the morning feel the pleasure of waking up in the arms of mountains. In the morning we will take day hikes to Amadablam base camp, Nagarjuna Hill.
The Nagarjuna hill is considered as the best meditations spot, mammoth mountain views. Not only that there is Nagarjuna monastery to explore as well. The hill is also popularly called as Jamacho by local language as the cave residence of Nagarjuna, a famous Buddhist saint who once meditated here.
In the evening we will return to our Everest Base Camp in Dingboche. Now you can relax your body, have a little chit-chat with other fellow travellers or just let your mind and body devour in the serene view.

Day 8Dingboche to Lobuche (4930m | 7 km) 4-6 hours trek (B,L,D)

On the eighth day, we will move forward our journey to explore the best of Nepal and march towards Lobuche. We will trek today from Dingboche to Lobuche which roughly takes 4 – 6 hours for us to reach there.
Lobuche is a Nepalese mountain which lies close to the Khumbu glacier. This place is quite famous for its two main peaks namely Lobuche far east and Lobuche East. From the peak, you can easily catch amazing views of Everest alongside Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam and Pumori.
The initial part of the trek won’t be difficult for this trek but as we progress towards our destination the altitude will rise significantly. But once this trek is covered you will gain the first experience of unimaginable exhilaration as you walk through moraine and rough landscape, Pheriche village. The trip will also take you to some of the most popular places in the Everest region like Kala Pathar, which provides an enticing view of Everest adjacent to other high mountains.

Day 9Lobuche to Gorakshep (5160m) 4-5 hours trek. After lunch 1-2 hours trek to Everest base camp (5380m) and back to Gorakshep 1 hour trek (B,L,D)

Hurray!! It’s Everest Base Camp day today, your wait is over here. We will walk towards Gorakshep and may reach within 4-5 hours. Gorakshep will serve as your base to visit the Everest Base Camp. It will be a complete glacier route, you can also see the icebergs and icy- glacial ponds on the way.
After a lunch break, we will move towards the Everest Base camp. In this route, one can easily steal a glance of Everest. This trek is going to be a moderate trek. You will follow the same trek route from Everest Base Camp to Gorakshep where you will stay for the night.

Day 10Gorakshep to kalapathar 2-3 hours trek trek then walk to Pheriche (4240m) 3-4 hours trek (B,L,D)

Kalapathar will be the highest point of the entire trek and from here you can observe the closer look of Everest. In fact, this is the only place, where the almost entire high peak mountains of the Himalayan Ranges can be clearly visible.
After a tough walking day, travellers will spend some time in Kalapathar and then after that, we will move towards to Pheriche. Pheriche is a small village located above the Tsola River, this place is an ultimate beauty.

Day 11Pheriche to Namche bazaar (3420m) 4-6hours trek (B,L,D)

We hike down to the same route from Pheriche to Namche seeking the same pleasure similar to what we experienced while jogging up.

Day 12Namche bazaar to Lukla (2860m) 6-7hours trek (B,L,D)

The time to say goodbye to the amazing trekking experience will arrive here. Here our trekking journey will terminate as we descend down to Lukla on the same route for about 6-7 hours

Day 13Return to Kathmandu from Lukla (30 minutes flight) (B)

So travellers the time to bid goodbye to Everest Base Camp arrives at this point. It’s the time to go back to the starting point of the trek from where you were earlier flown at the start of the trek. A 30-minute flight will take you back to Kathmandu today. And by the time you reach in Kathmandu and feels like there some time left you can explore the amazing Kathmandu from here on your own.
