Gaumukh Tapovan Trek takes you encompassing the Gangotri glacier to the site traditionally believed to be the delta of the holy river Ganga.
The Gangotri glacial area is nearly 24 km long and 6 to 8 km wide, rising from Gaumukh and stretching as far as the Chaukhamba around Badrinath. The enchanting beauty of the trek is a feast for the eyes with the immense backdrop of Mount Shivling.
Dehradoon, Uttrakhand
The taxi will depart from the Dehradoon Railway Station at 7 am. Requesting the trekkers to arrive half an hour prior.

Please note that the transportation cost will be shared among the trekkers equally. The transportation sumtotal amount has to be given to the vehicle driver only.
The journey for Gaumukh Tapovan will start from Dehradoon. All the participants have to reach Dehradoon Railway station at 6 am. From there a ride of 241km to Gangotri will begin. This ride will be 8 hours accustomed in the slopy mountains. The route followed: Route: Dehradun – Mussorie – Dhanulti- Chmba- Uttarkashi- Harshil – Gangotri. The local network will be available throughout.
The first major attraction of the way will be Mussorie – Queen of Hills. The Hill station offers the grand sight of Shivalik Ranges. Here we will halt for lunch break and a bit of sight-seeing through Dhanulti, Chamba, you will arrive at the land of Gods, Uttarkashi.
Uttarkashi lies on the banks of river Bhagirathi. The river Bhagirath takes you to the picturesque Harshil village. Harshil is known for apple orchards.
Gangotri has situated the banks of river Bhagirathi, penetrated by pilgrims. You can wander in the local market, interact will local people. In the night have great homemade dinner and rest in the guest house. Network connectivity is adaptable here.
After breakfast, we will commence our today’s trek in Gangotri National Park. The trail will follow through the pine forests alongside the Bhagirathi river. Today trek will have an easy ascends and will get covered in 4 – 5 hours. Enchanting Sudarshan Parbat (21,345ft) will accompany you throughout the trek. You will also come across some waterfalls and streams; refill service can be done here.
Campsite offers the first views of the Bhagirathi Sister peaks, Bhagirathi I, II and III ( 6856 m, 6512 m, & 6454 m respectively) sharing space with Manda Peak, Bhrigu Parbat etc.
Freshly prepared lunch will be served at the campsite. Overnight stay is accommodated in tents amidst Pine Forest.
The filtered morning rays will be your alarm clock today!! Today’s trek is of easiest ascend with gradual ascend (2-3 hours). The trek will give will you closer look to Bhagirathi peak. Once the trek is completed, you will land on plain terrain that is Bhojwassa. The tents for this day will be placed here.
Here you will find ashram, police post, and rest house, also some igloo-like houses. You can opt to stay in those houses but that require permissions.
Hot lunch will be served at the campsite. The rest of the day is to your self. Enjoy the splendid view and cold weather!
Today will be a demanding and longest day of the trek. So have proper food before and take some energy bars, packed lunch and enough water supple. There will be no refill service available on the way.
The trek will head to Tapovan today and coming back to Bhojwasa as well. First, the trek will go to Gomuk from Bhojwasa (5km). This will be a fairly easy trek. Gomukh is the end of the Gangotri glacier and hence the source of the divine Ganges river.
The trail from Gomukh gets steeper and filled with rock fieldstones. The rock moraines on the glacier make the climb difficult, but it also means there is no need for technical equipment. You can use a trekking pole to ease the climb. The final trek to Tapovan is rocky terrain, once you cross it you will be pleased to be in the best-known meadows with a closer view of the magnificent Mt. Shivling.
Tapovan is famous for the Sadhus who come here for meditation. It is also the base camp for the expeditions going to Mt. Shivling. It offers the direct, bigger sight of Mt. Shivling which is considered one of the most sacred and beautiful mountain.
After the difficult trek, Tapovan serves as a perfect place for solitude. Here you will find mountain goats roaming around, just as you are. Head back to Bhojwasa. Overnight stay will be arranged in tents in Bhojwasa.
Today we will head back to Gangotri following the same route. The overall trekking distance will be 14km to be covered in 6-7 hours. Pack your lunch along with and carry some energy bars or ORS for the way. The grade will be of moderate level with a gradual descent. Accommodation will be in Guest House.
It is time to bid farewell. Following the same trail, all the participants will be departed to Dehradun latest by 5 pm IST.

The best time to travel to Gaumukh Tapovan Trek is between September to October.
Pangarchulla Peak Trek has a moderate to difficult level of difficulty. Despite being of moderate level, it is essential to have a good physical fitness, due to weather conditions.
On an average – 10 to 18 Km; in 7-8 hours. The trekking can be strenuous.
It is not extremely cold in Gaumukh Tapovan Trek. However, as we go higher the temperature falls to a lower grade. It is recommended to keep woollens handy.
All Devadars treks are leaded by professional Trek leaders who has completed Basic and Advance mountaineering courses and are certified in first-aid course, along with one local guide, cook, helper, porter and other staff.
Normally, we take 10 to 15 people in a batch including males and females. We need minimum 5 to 6 people to run a fixed departure but for the customised trip group size doesn’t matter.
Securing our trekkers is of prime importance for us. We ensure your protection all the while during the trek. There would be our persons as well, joining the trek – such as Trek Guide, Cooks, and Helpers. So there you need not to worry.
All that you need to carry is well documented in the “Essentials” section. Also, once the payment is done, we will send you the list of all the required essentials on your registered email id.
Yes. However, the luggage carrying cost is not included in the package. For porter service, you have to pay extra. Also, if you think that you will be needing a porter, then it is highly advisable to inform 5 days prior before your trek commence.
There is no such hard & fast rule. For trekking – the footwear has to be good trekking shoes only. Floaters or sandals won’t be an option for trekking. Also, keep 5 pairs of warm socks with you.
There would be tasty and hygienic 3-times Veg. meal that all the trekkers will be availing. Apart from this there would be morning & evening tea – coffee provided. An energy bar will also be given to all the trekkers.
Yes non-veg. food is also available, but it would be charged extra. i.e., 500/head.
Bonfire is not a part of the package. However, it can be accustomed as an extra demand (Chargeable*).

No. Female trekkers will be accompanied in the tent with female trekkers only. The same is the case with male trekkers.
If cancellations are made 15 days before the start date of the trip, 100% of the total tour cost will be refunded to the original mode of payment.
If cancellations are made in the last 15 days in respect with the tour start date, 50% of the total tour cost will be charged as cancellation fees.
In case of unforeseen weather conditions or government restrictions, certain activities may be cancelled and in such cases, Devadars will provide you with a full amount Voucher, which can be avail on any Devadars Trek. However, no refund will be provided for the same.
