Valley of Flowers is located in Chamoli district (near Badrinath), Uttarakhand, approximately 300 km to the north of Rishikesh. This is a picturesque national park, gracing the beauty of Western Himalayas.

Valley of flowers was discovered in 1931 and is a World Heritage Site known for its wild untamed blooms surrounded by white peaks. 

The Valley of Flowers is as close as humans can get to paradise in this lifetime. With dozens of new flowers blooming every day, the colours in the valley change every day. The valley was declared a national park in 1982 and now it is a World Heritage Site

High-altitude Himalayan valley that has long been acknowledged by renowned mountaineers, botanists, and in literature.

This easy trek is suitable for first-time trekkers, families with kids, or groups looking for a fun outing in the mountains. Your Valley of Flowers trek itinerary also takes you to Hemkund Sahib Gurudwara, a famous Sikh pilgrimage spot on the banks of the Hemkund lake, where devotees take a dip in the ice-covered water.

The best time to visit Valley of Flowers depends upon your liking as the valley is for all time beautiful. If you want to see maximum number of flowers July and August is a best time, if you want to see lot of glaciers you should visit in June, to see Brahamkamal flowers at Hemkud August and September is a best time

Itinerary

Day 1From Haridwar to Joshimath (09 Hours drive)

The journey to Valley of Flowers will begin from Haridwar. All the participants are requested to reach Haridwar at 7 am from where we will take the mythological Badrinath Road. On the last day of our trek, we will be taking the same route. Hence, you can visit the Ganga Ghats or be a part of world-famous Ganga Aarti upon return.

The nine-hour drive to Joshimath will surely be long and strenuous but the magnificent views will make it worth viewing. We will be passing by the 4 of the Panchprayag or the five holy confluence of Ganga—Devaprayag, Rudraprayag, Karnaprayag, and Nandaprayag. So, be Insta ready!

Overnight stay will be in Hotel Sapphire, Joshimath

Day 2Joshimath - Ghangaria Trek (22 km drive | 5 km Trek)

From Joshimath, we will drive to Govindghat which is at the distance is 22km. We will start on the drive in the morning after breakfast and reach Govindghat by 8 am and then 4 km drive to Pulna which is the starting point. The drive would be 9 km uphill route along the river, Pushpawati.

Usually, the entire trail will be crowded most of the time during peak time. Many snack shops selling the beverage, hot noodles, omelettes with bread, paratha, and the like eateries can be found on this trail.

The trek will be on a clearly defined stone-paved path, conveniently built with stairs. You will reach Gangharia before dusk, accomplishing an altitude of 10, 000 feet.

Overnight stay will be at Kuber Annex Hotel, Ghaghariya

Day 3Ghangaria - Valley of Flower - Ghangaria (5km Trek)

From here the journey to Valley of Flowers has 4km distance. The valley is 6-7 km long. The time is taken to complete this trek solely lies on the pace of the trekkers.

Right before the check post, there is a gushing waterfall called Laxman waterfall. And in another 20 minutes, you will enter into the greenery and then the next intense attraction comes. The trail is steep and stone-paved like the previous day. You can find many bridges and landslide areas when you enter the valley.

Valley has many blossoming flowers, which attract many national as well as international tourists around the globe. The range of blossoms includes: Blue Poppy, Snake Foil, White Leaf Hog Foot, Himalayan Rose, Meadow Geranium, Dog Flower, Hooked Stick Seed are the native flowers.

These astounding colourful blossoms end after 5 km stretch at a glacier. If the weather is clear the mighty Himalayan peaks of Nilgiri Parvat, Bhyundar Khal, Rattaban, Gauri Parvat etc. in the background. Today’s journey will settle with your coming back to Ghangaria before nightfall.

Overnight stay will be at Kuber Annex Hotel, Ghangaria.

Day 4Ghangaria - Hemkund - Ghangaria

Pack yourself early in the morning to start trekking (6 Km) for Hemkund Sahib – One of the most revered of all Sikh Shrines. The Hemkund Sahib is the World’s Highest Gurudwara and is situated at an altitude of 4,329 meters.

There will be porters and mules if you wish to offload your luggage. The trail today will be similar to previous days stone-paved and continuous ascend. There will be eateries available on the way, you can avail anything to refill yourselves. Watch out for the rare flower Brahmakamal that will be spotted beside pathways.

Also, the Religious Laxman temple of Hindus is also found near the lake. In the afternoon we will trek down to reach Ghangariya for an overnight stay. The evening is free for rest & relaxation.

Day 5Ghangaria to Govindghat (10 Hour Drive)

After your breakfast in the morning, we descend to Govindghat. From this place, Badrinath is 25 km away and take 1 hrs to reach. You can visit Badrinath only if road and weather condition permits us.

Overnight stay will be in Ganga Resort Homestay, Govindghat.

Day 6Govinghat to Joshimath and Joshimath to Haridwar

Today we will commence our journey early in the morning and leave for Joshimath (1 Hour drive). After which we will leave for Haridwar following the same route.

How difficult is Valley of Flowers Trek?

Valley of Flowers is easy. However, it is essential to have a good physical fitness, due to weather conditions.

How much distance does a trekker has to complete in a day?

On an average -3 – 5 Km; in 4 -5 hours. The trekking has easy an ascend with staircases and stone-paved roads.

Is it too cold in Valley of Flowers Trek?

It is not extremely cold in Valley of Flowers Trek. However, as we go higher the temperature falls to a lower grade. It is recommended to keep woollens handy.

Who will lead our Valley of Flowers Trek?

All Devadars treks are leaded by professional Trek leaders who has completed Basic and Advance mountaineering courses and are certified in first-aid course, along with one local guide, cook, helper, porter and other staff.

What is the total strength of a group?

Normally, we take 10 to 15 people in a batch including males and females. We need minimum 5 to 6 people to run a fixed departure but for the customised trip group size doesn’t matter.

If I am the only girl in the batch, how safe it would be for me?

Securing our trekkers is of prime importance for us. We ensure your protection all the while during the trek. There would be our persons as well, joining the trek – such as Trek Guide, Cooks, and Helpers. So there you need not to worry.

What are all the essentials do I need to carry?

All that you need to carry is well documented in the “Essentials” section. Also, once the payment is done, we will send you the list of all the required essentials on your registered email id.

Will there be a porter available to carry my bag?

Yes. However, the luggage carrying cost is not included in the package. For porter service, you have to pay extra. Also, if you think that you will be needing a porter, then it is highly advisable to inform 5 days prior before your trek commence.

Any specific footwear required for Valley of Flowers Trek?

There is no such hard & fast rule. For trekking – the footwear has to be good trekking shoes only. Floaters or sandals won’t be an option for trekking. Also, keep 5 pairs of warm socks with you.

What type of food will be served to us during the trek?

There would be tasty and hygienic 3-times Veg. meal that all the trekkers will be availing. Apart from this there would be morning & evening tea – coffee provided. An energy bar will also be given to all the trekkers.

Can I have non-veg. food?

Yes non-veg. food is also available, but it would be charged extra. i.e., 500/head.

Can I have bonfire?

Bonfire is not a part of the package. However, it can be accustomed as an extra demand (Chargeable*).

Do I need to carry any medicines with me?

Well, if you’re sensitive toward cold weather and felt nausea or any sort of allergy. It is advisable to carry some medicines along with you.

What is the minimum and maximum age required to join this Trek?

Minimum age is 9+ and there is no bar on maximum age. The person has to physically fit from all aspects to join this trek.

How will I fetch the details of my trek guide and transportation service?

Once, you have completed the payment process. Our team connects with you, 2 days prior your scheduled date. All the necessary information will be surpassed to you via email and text message. Apart from that our team has 24×7 connect, you may reach us anytime for any clarification.

If I am the only female trekker in the group, do I need to share the tent with mens?

No. Female trekkers will be accompanied in the tent with female trekkers only. The same is the case with male trekkers.

Cancellation Policy

If cancellations are made 15 days before the start date of the trip, 100% of the total tour cost will be refunded to the original mode of payment.

If cancellations are made in the last 15 days in respect with the tour start date, 50% of the total tour cost will be charged as cancellation fees.

In case of unforeseen weather conditions or government restrictions, certain activities may be cancelled and in such cases, Devadars will provide you with a full amount Voucher, which can be avail on any Devadars Trek. However, no refund will be provided for the same.
